How do you install and disconnect a quick coupling fitting?
Installing tubing in a quick-coupling fitting is as simple as inserting the tube through the collet, O-ring and the fitting body. It is important to ensure that you have fully inserted the tube into the fitting. You will have a leak if you do not push your tubing beyond the O ring inside the fitting. This is because the O ring does not seal properly. Marking the tubing at the end, about three quarter inch from the fitting is a good way to ensure that it has been inserted fully. The three-quarter inch mark should disappear when you press the pieces together.
The collet’s teeth grab onto the tube when it is installed into a quick connector. This feature keeps the tube firmly in place, preventing it from slipping out. The collet clamps the tube harder when you pull the tubing. To release the collet, pull it down toward the fitting to free its teeth. Then pull the tube away from the fitting. You can connect and release the SAE connector quickly and easily with this simple process.
